Starting a home renovation at New Lodge East

During the lockdown, Directors Alex and Sarah sold and purchased a new family home, while buying a new property wasn’t a priority, they fell in love with a beautiful country farmhouse nestled in the heart of Ashdown Forest, East Sussex.

The house itself used to be a 12-bedroom farmhouse set in 1.2 acres of land with far-reaching views across the forest. In 1950 is was converted into two separate dwellings with the main entrance being retained on the side of New Lodge East.

The former owners had resided there for 46 years, and it is clear that it was a well-loved home that has now sadly fallen into disrepair in recent years. The AMLY team has big dreams and ambitions to breathe new life into the space and to make their mark on this historic building.

Plans have been drawn up to change the internal layouts on each floor (three floors in total) and renovations are about to begin with a complete rip out of the ground floor with the first job being to replace all the joists with solid insulated concrete floor with underfloor heating.

We will be documenting our journey of the renovation over on our Instagram account, take a behind the scenes look at the AMLY team hard at work, and discover what we have planned…
